Arlie G. Puffenbarger

Arlie G. Puffenbarger, age 75, of Mount Crawford, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013.  He was born in Augusta County on Aug. 10, 1937, and was a son of the late Glenn and Margaret Ruleman Puffenbarger.  He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Arlie graduated from North River High School and served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was employed with Dupont in Waynesboro and retired from mechanical maintenance after 35 years.  Following his retirement, he was a bus operator for Harrisonburg City Transportation for 10 years.  He attended Friedens United Church of Christ in Mount Crawford.   

On June 24, 1972, he married Betty (Huffman) Puffenbarger, who survives.  Also surviving are two sons and four grandsons, Mark A. Puffenbarger and wife, Jill, and their sons, Mason, Matthew and Michael, all of Stephens City, Va., and David S. Puffenbarger and wife, Lauren, and their son, Brandon, all of Weyers Cave; his brother, George E. Puffenbarger and wife, Ruth, of Bridgewater; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with the Rev. Paul A. Seland officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.  Mr. Puffenbarger’s wishes will be upheld with the casket remaining closed.

In lieu of customary floral tributes, memorials may be made to the Grottoes Rescue Squad, 805 Augusta Ave., Grottoes, VA 24441, the Weyers Cave Fire Department, 1235 Keezletown Road, Weyers Cave, VA 24486, or a charity of choice.
