William R. Morris Sr.

William Raymond Morris Sr., 82, of Grottoes, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at his home.

Bill was born Aug. 13, 1930, in Charlottesville, and was the son of the late Henry and Ora Morris.

Following his service in the National Guard, he worked at CC Rossen and Sons for 20 years. During his retirement, he worked part time at Wendy’s.

On Sept. 16, 1973, he married Cheryl Popard Morris, who survives. He is also survived by his son, William Raymond Morris Jr.; five daughters, Sharon Napier, Lorrie Morris, Lyniece Saturnus, Theresa Gilbert and Cheri Morris; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, and at the home of his daughter, Theresa Gilbert, 45 Norwich Court, Weyers Cave, Va.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kyger Funeral Home to offset funeral expenses.
