Thomas ‘Moose’ Shifflett

Thomas “Moose” Shifflett, 71, passed away Tuesday evening, March 19, 2013, at Harrisonburg Health & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Rockingham County on Dec. 3, 1941, son of the late Clarence V. and Myrtie Michael Shifflett.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Morris Shifflett; siblings, Claude Shifflett and Kenneth “Cotton” Shifflett, Julia Beahm, Louise Morris, Peggy May, Ethel Morris and Vernon “Shep” Shifflett, Clarence Shifflett Jr. and Connie Jane Shifflett.

Surviving family include his wife, Garnett Loker Shifflett; sons, Thomas Shifflett Jr. and wife, Stephanie, Tim Shifflett and wife, Tracy, and Butch Shifflett and wife, Kim; a daughter, Tonya Cupp and husband, Tim; stepson, J. Lee Huffman Jr. and wife, Debbie; a brother, Charles E. Shifflett; sisters, Betty Moyers, Edith Shifflett, Lois Knott, Virginia Acosta and Leona Hensby; grandchildren, Mandi Shifflett, Mindi McPhee, Brandon Shifflett, Fallon Ryman, T.J. Cupp, Caroline Shifflett, Charlie Shifflett, Barbie Shifflett and Jadon Huffman; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Harrisonburg Chapel of Kyger Funeral Homes with pastors Archie Lam and Jimmy Kite officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at the funeral home.
