R. Donald Cupp

R. Donald Cupp, 78, of Harrisonburg, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, at Sentara-Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Harrisonburg on Aug. 31, 1934, and was a son of the late Roy C. and Ruby (Wine) Cupp.

Don was a transportation supervisor at James Madison University and retired in 1995. He was a member of Dayton Church of the Brethren. Don played basketball for Bridgewater College, where he graduated in the class of 1955.

He was united in marriage on April 14, 1956, to Shirley Ann (Rodeffer) Cupp, who survives.

Roy is also survived by a daughter, Teresa C. May and husband, Randy, of Harrisonburg; a son, Steven Lee Cupp of Harrisonburg; a sister, Peggy Fidler of Norcross, Ga.; a granddaughter, Kelli Renee Cupp Putman and husband, Josh, of Lake Jackson, Texas; and a great-grandson, Logan Dwayne Putman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Cupp.

A funeral service will be held at Dayton Church of the Brethren at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, with the Rev. Marty Doss officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 27, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dayton Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 236, Dayton, VA 22821.
