Huey H. Hopkins

Huey Howard Hopkins, 66, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Jan. 24, 2014. He was born in Harrisonburg on July 26, 1947, and was a son of the late Walter and Deva Hopkins.


Surviving to carry on his memory are his daughter, Tina Hopkins-Scott and husband, Willie Jr., of Dayton; his son, Tony Hopkins of Ardmore, Okla.; grandsons, Chance and Zachary Hopkins; his brother, John Houle and companion, Dianne Grimm, of Harrisonburg; his companion, Leanne Swartz of Harrisonburg; special daughter, Stacey Smith and her daughter, Danielle Smith; two nephews, Tony Gilkerson and wife, Donna, and Joe Gilkerson and wife, Ann; one niece, Suzy Benedict and husband, Steve; two great-nephews and one great-niece.


In addition to his parents, those preceding him in death were his sister, Patricia Hopkins-Sterling, and nephew, Rick Gilkerson.


Huey served in the U.S. Navy and was aboard the USS America on a Pacific deployment during the Vietnam War. He was employed with R.S. Monger & Sons for many years. 


A memorial gathering will be held at 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Please feel free to express your sympathies or memories to the family at www.kygers.com.
