Owen E. Crump Jr.

Owen Evans Crump Jr., 92, died Monday, May 12, 2014, in the Bridgewater Home. He was born Dec. 14, 1921, in Cherry Dale, Arlington, Va., and was the son of the late Owen Evans Crump Sr. and Cynthia Alsop Crump. He is also preceded in death by a son, Ronald, two brothers and a sister.

 

Owen is survived by his wife, Elva Blankenbaker Crump. They were married on July 24, 1942, in St. Marks Episcopal Church, Washington, D.C. Owen enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December of 1942 and served three years and 15 days with pride. He returned to his job with the D.C. Highway Department and retired in 1970 with 30 years of service. Owen and Elva became residents of Bridgewater Retirement Community on Aug. 18, 1996, where they spent many happy years together.

 

A graveside memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Hebron Lutheran Church Cemetery, Madison, Va., conducted by the Rev. Henry Daniel Aylor.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

 

Preddy Funeral Home in Madison is in charge of arrangements.
