David Lloyd Trissel Jr.

David Lloyd Trissel Jr., 63, of Penn Laird, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.


Mr. Trissel was born Dec. 25, 1950, in Rockingham County, and was a son of D. Lloyd and Alice (Blosser) Trissel Sr. of Harrisonburg.


He loved his church, Truth Light & Life Mission in Penn Laird, where he was a faithful deacon. He was known for his sense of humor and enjoyed hosting family and friends. David enjoyed traveling abroad and helping weekly in the prison ministry. Mr. Trissel’s work history includes RMH and ComSonics prior to starting his own business. David owned and operated Trissel’s Hoof Trimming for 38 years. He also owned and operated Pro Sharp, a professional service for hair stylists.


He was devotedly married to Patricia Secrist Trissel, his wife of 42 years, who survives. They were the first couple married at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church on Sept. 16, 1972.


In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Trissel is survived by four children, Monica Waugh and husband, Keith, David L. Trissel III, Cynthia Trissel and John Michael Trissel and wife, Rachael, all of Harrisonburg; four brothers, Ronald Trissel and wife, Barbara, of Florida, Larry Trissel of Harrisonburg, Dennis Trissel and wife, Beth, of Harrisonburg and Greg Trissel of Harrisonburg; seven grandchildren, Britteny Waugh, Seth Waugh, Michael Trissel, Abigail Trissel, Samuel Trissel, Daniel Trissel, and Ryan Trissel; a dear sister-in-law, Lory Trissel; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Catarina Trissel.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 18, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church with Apostles Daniel Rodes and Kevin Campbell officiating. A private burial will precede the Celebration of Life Service. 


The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home.
