Today neighbors on Blue Ridge drive were awakened in the early morning hours by the sound of a vehicle crashing into a parked car. Unfortunately, this scene has become common in our residential neighborhood. Several weeks ago our next door neighbor’s car was hit. This is the second time for them. Neighbors on both sides of us have had their visiting parents’ cars hit. This time it was our vehicle parked in our driveway.

The car speeding north went through two neighbors’ yards and a tree before hitting our truck, the driver fleeing. In the early dawn hours neighbors gathered thankful none of us was hurt, remembering that this didn’t use to happen on Blue Ridge Drive and shouldn’t be happening now.

City of Harrisonburg, please come up with a solution as our street has become a through alternative to Vine Street and is dangerous at night.
