Do you love the United States of America? “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” — John Adams.

Also, a democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

“The average age of the world’s greatest civilization has been 200 years.” — Alexander Fraser Tyler.

“Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” — George Santayana, circa 1905. Re-refer to quotation number one. The U.S. Constitution was ratified June 21, 1788. God help us all.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." Benjamin Franklin.

It would be good to know the context of that quote. I'm afraid that I'm not familiar with it.
