Dorothy May Lucas Smith, 91, of Willow Estates, formerly of Elkton, died on Sunday, May 19, 2019.

She was born on June 9, 1927, in Page County and was a daughter of the late David N. Lucas and Lily May Shomo Lucas.

Mrs. Smith was employed by the Alliance Manufacturing Company for a number of years. She was an avid gardener.

Her husband, Vernon Ray Smith Sr., died on Sept. 19, 1996.

She is survived by five sons, James Franklin “Frank,” Stephen L., Bruce A., Billy G. and Vernon R. Smith Jr.; four sisters, Lottie Secrist, MaryAnn May, Ramona May and Alberta Morris; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Ervin Lee Smith; and a number of brothers and sisters.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at Furnace United Methodist Church by Pastor Rick Robertson, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial followed at the Koontz Cemetery in Page County.
