Mary \"Louise\" Virginia Shifflett Warble
Mary \"Louise\" Virginia Shifflett Warble, 86, of Staunton, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Envoy of Staunton.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1923, in Shenandoah, and was a daughter of the late Clarence William and Rosie Anna Womack Shifflett.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Brethren Church.
On April 3, 1950, she married Charles V. Warble, who preceded her in death on April 27, 1994.
She is survived by two sons, Ward Williamson of Harrisonburg and Jeffrey C. Breeden of Staunton; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Ann Falls of Linville; two brothers, Robert Shifflett of Grottoes and Clarence Shifflett of Hagerstown, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Don Smith and Chaplain Duane Burleigh officiating. Burial followed in the Humes Run Cemetery.

Colleen Ellen Dhoore Holmes
Colleen Ellen Dhoore Holmes, 64, of Massanutten, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at her residence.
Ms. Holmes was born on Nov. 26, 1945, in South Bend, Ind., and was a daughter of the late Earl and surviving Shirley Listek Dhoore.
She worked as an import & export administrator in the Washington, D.C., area, and locally for Wampler Foods, now known as Pilgrims Pride, until her retirement. She managed Gold and Gifts in the Valley Mall for several years.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Daryl Zernick of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Greg Dhoore of South Bend, Ind.; and two sisters, Judy Poelvoorde of South Bend, Ind. and Jan Sowers of Memphis, Tenn.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Friedens United Church of Christ Cemetery near Mount Crawford.

Phyllis Lucille Hensley Leap
Phyllis Lucille Hensley Leap, 85, of McGaheysville, died Monday March 1, 2010, at Loyalton in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Leap was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late Reese C. and Lottie L. Sipe Hensley. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, C.J. Hensley Jr.
She was a member of Mount Olivet Christian Church in McGaheysville. Mrs. Leap loved to fish, hunt and play cards. She received her associate degree in business from Blue Ridge Community College.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Leap; one son, Allan Lane Hensley of Mount Crawford; two daughters, Donna June Demeres of McGaheysville and Juanita Lucille Harpley of Florida; one brother, Jack S. Hensley of McGaheysville; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Friday, March 5, 2010, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with the Rev. David Lagerveld officiating. Burial was private at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Mildred Louise Showalter
Mildred Louise Showalter, 84, of Harrisonburg, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Showalter was born on Dec. 14, 1925, in Harrisonburg, and was a daughter of the late Marvin L. and Goldie Gilmer Neff.
She graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1943. She was employed by Valley National Bank and General Motors Dealership. Most recently, she was employed by the Virginia Employment Commission, from where she retired in 1988. She was a member and past president of the Quota Club. She was an active and lifetime member of the Harrisonburg Baptist Church. She was church clerk, and also served as a deaconate.
On March 10, 1946, she married Neil Showalter who survives. Also surviving are a son, Steven N. Showalter of Massanutten; and one granddaughter.
Dr. Jack Mercer and the Revs. Stacy Nowell and T.W. Johnson conducted a memorial service Sunday, March 7, at Harrisonburg Baptist Church. Burial was private.

Michael Taylor Michael
Michael Taylor Michael, 50, of Grottoes, died Friday, March 5, 2010.
He was born in Birmingham, Ala., on Oct. 27, 1959, and was a son of the late Joseph Manuel Michael and Margaret (Taylor) Michael of Birmingham, Ala.
He worked as a correctional officer at Harrisonburg Men\'s Division Center, was a member of First Baptist Church in Grottoes and served in the U.S. Navy.
He was united in marriage on June 18, 1985, to Kerry (Nadeau) Michael, who survives.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Obaugh of Staunton; a son, Joseph Manuel Michael of Grottoes; two sisters, Kay Renaud of Birmingham, Ala. and Jan Sullivan of North Fort Myers, Fla.; and three brothers, Ron Michael, Jeff Michael and Tommy Michael, all of Birmingham, Ala.; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service was conducted Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Grottoes with Pastor Matthew Coiner officiating.

Maxine Evelyn Tobin Hensley
Maxine Evelyn Tobin Hensley, 83, of Harrisonburg, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at her residence.
Mrs. Hensley was born on November 28, 1926, in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Melvin Enoch and Eva Virginia Johnson Tobin.
She worked for Sunnyside Retirement Community for many years prior to her retirement. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed flower gardens.
On Dec. 24, 1947, she married Norman Willie Hensley, who preceded her in death in March of 2003.
She survived by two sons, Donald Ray Hensley of Mount Crawford and Phillip Wayne Hensley of Elkton; three daughters, Judy Ann Forrest of Lynchburg, Diane Faye Thompson of Mount Sidney and Esther Mae Turner of Hinton; a brother, Danny Kaye Tobin of Kilmarnock; a sister, Betty Lou Ellis of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with the Rev. Paul Forrest officiating. Burial followed at the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mildred J. Lam
Mildred J. Lam, 82, formerly of Shenandoah, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Journey\'s Crossing in Elkton, where she had been a resident for three years.
Mrs. Lam was born March 11, 1927, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late Arthur Clarence \"Bart\" and Beatrise Pearl Rion Davis.
She graduated from Elkton High School in 1944 and was a life member of the Bethel United Church of Christ near Elkton, where she served as Sunday school teacher for many years. She also was a homemaker.
On March 22, 1947, she married Grover Wesley \"Shorty\" Lam, who preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1984.
Survivors include a son, Darryl W. Lam of Culpeper; two daughters, Judy L. Jewell and Joy C. Lam, both of Shenandoah; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Bethel United Church of Christ near Elkton with Pastor Dan Bassett officiating. Burial was private in Rest Haven Cemetery in Shenandoah.
