Wedding and engagement announcements for Valley residents (or people with immediate family
— brother, sister, mother, father, grandparents — in the Valley) are eligible to appear in the Daily News-Record. There is no charge for this service, but the following rules should be observed:
- Wedding announcements should be submitted within two months after the wedding. The News-Record will publish announcements up to six months after the wedding, but the news value of those announcements is diminished by the delay.
- Engagement announcements must be submitted a calendar month or more before the wedding date.
- Include full names of all parents and wedding party members. Parents can be identified as John and Susan Doe or Mr. and Mrs. John Doe. Indicate if parents are divorced and should be listed separately.
- Where addresses are requested, the town, city or county of residence (and state if individuals don’t live in Virginia) will suffice.
- No specific date of publication can be assured. Announcements will be published as soon as space permits on a first come, first served basis. Photographs are returned whenever possible, and can be picked up at the Daily News-Record receptionist’s desk after publication, or will be returned by mail if a stamped, self-addressed envelope is provided. The Daily News-Record is not responsible for lost or damaged photos.
- Mail large photographs to The Daily News-Record, Attn.: Features Department, P.O. Box 193, Harrisonburg, VA 22803; or deliver by hand to the Daily News-Record offices, 231 S. Liberty St., Harrisonburg. Make sure to include your name and information with the photograph, so that it can be matched to your web submission.
